A Titanic Clash Over the Constitution – History Colorado Center

President Jefferson had two major reservations about early drafts of the Constitution: it allowed the president, if reelected, to serve for life, and it lacked a bill of rights. Jefferson insisted the Constitution include individual rights like liberty of the press and trial by jury in civil cases.
