August 24, 2022
United States Poet Laureate. Author. Performer
United States Poet Laureate. Author. Performer
Join us for an evening with the United States Poet Laureate, Joy Harjo (Muscogee). As the first Native American to hold the position, Harjo broke barriers and became only the second poet laureate to serve three terms. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Harjo is an internationally renowned performer and writer of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation. She is the author of nine books of poetry, several plays and children’s books, and two memoirs. Harjo will share empowering stories and poems that draw from her life experiences.
In addition to Joy Harjo, we are excited to welcome poets and authors Ashley Cornelius and Bobby LaFebre as a part of our program for the evening.
In person tickets are sold out for this event, but virtual tickets are still available.
Presented in partnership with Cathey McClain Finlon and Richard Finlon, CBS4, Chambers Initiative, and Colorado Creative Industries.
