Cleo Parker Robinson Dance presents the Fall 2019 concert, “Rise and Resist” at the Newman Center for the Performing Arts at University of Denver Campus, 2344 E Iliff Ave, Denver, CO 80210.
Where The Iconic Meets the Innovative…This substantive modern dance performance is vibrant, rigorous, and beautiful. It spans the innovative fresh talent of 25-year-old choreographer, Micaela Taylor’s “Resist;” Dance Magazine deemed one of of “25 to Watch in 2019.” “Mourner’s Bench” by Talley Beatty is a seminal work now more than 70 years old; this American Modern Dance Master’s work, along with Donald McKayle, share a stage. The late Mr. McKayle’s last work, “Crossing The Rubicon: Passing The Point of No Return,” addresses immigration. And Cleo Parker Robinson’s “The MOVE/ment” returns to a Denver stage after its World Premiere this spring during “Tour de Force.”
