Community conversations with “The Holly” author Julian Rubenstein and Terrance Roberts
May 21, 2022
Join KGNU for a Community Conversation with Julian Rubenstein, author of “The Holly: Five Bullets, One Gun, and the Struggle to Save an American Neighborhood, Saturday, May 21, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at The Buell Media Center, 2101 Arapahoe St. Denver,
Since its release in May 2021, the book “The Holly: Five Bullets, One Gun, and the Struggle to Save an American Neighborhood” has sparked controversy amongst Denver residents and city officials. This community dialogue will center on themes from the book — specifically police use of confidential informants, gang and crime reduction, the targeting of activists, and the stories of the people impacted. This will be a multimedia event with author Julian Rubenstein and central figure Terrance Roberts featuring “sneak preview” clips from the forthcoming documentary “The Holly” to help guide the conversation; an audience Q and A to address questions from the community, music from KGNU DJs and poets from Sacred Voices . Copies of this New York Times “Editor’s Choice” selection will be available.
Attendance for this event is on a sliding scale, starting at $5. All proceeds benefit KGNU Community Radio. Please register to save your seat.
