Community Reading and Discussion of Citizen: An American Lyric by author Claudia Rankine with Conversations on Race, Social Justice and Community
May 6, 2018 - July 22, 2018
Montview Presbyterian Church invites you to participate in an upcoming four-session discussion series centered around the NY Times best-selling book, Citizen: An American Lyric by author Claudia Rankine. Citizen, the winner of the National Book Critics Circle Award, was the focus of a six-week Denver Talks program last fall, which also inspired Montview’s discussions. This series will be facilitated by Bill De La Cruz, Director of Equity and Inclusion, Denver Pubic Schools and City-Wide Facilitator. All events will be held at Montview Church in the Fellowship Hall.
Session schedule:
1 / May 6 @ 9:30 a.m. / Orientation and Q&A
2 / June 24 @ 11:00 a.m.*
3 / July 8 @ 11:00 a.m.*
4 / July 22 @ 11:00 a.m.*
We hope you will join us for part or all of this guided series designed to deepen our awareness of racism’s impact on community, culture, and personal life through heart and faith-centered conversations with Montview and community members.
