At 14 miles long, the Sand Creek Greenway moves in a northwesterly direction from Aurora to Commerce City. As wilderness in the city, the trail follows the Sand Creek through agricultural, suburban, and urban areas, passing through some of metro Denver’s best transit and growth history. Although mostly within just a 1/2 mile of the biggest roads and interstates in the area, you’ll always feel like you’re miles and miles away. You might even see deer, beavers, hawks, eagles, and prairie dogs while learning about Stapleton airport history, Danish pig farmers, and oil & gas production along the way.

Segment 1: Sunday, April 22, 9 am East Aurora to Star K Ranch

Join us for all segments or just one! Ranging from 3.5-4.5 miles each, these segments allow you to continuously walk the entire length of the Greenway this spring. We’ll walk at a pleasant 2-­3 mph, creating wonderful connection and conversation. All participants who complete all 4 segments by the last scheduled segment will receive a patch from the Sand Creek Greenway Partnership signifying the completion of the entire Sand Creek Greenway.
