Come see and ask questions with Julie Parker, objects conservator of Parker Arts Conservation, about her work conserving the Espinosa Petaca (trunk)! She will hosting open studio hours in the Registration Processing Room on the 3rd floor, accessible in the hallway past the Zoom In exhibition exit. She will be availble to answer questions and discuss her conservation work as well as any general object care questions visitors may have.

This conservation work is the result of generous donations from visitors and is part of the “Borderlands of Sourthern Colorado” series. Visitors may remember Julie Parker from her role as panelist in the recent program “The Espinosa Brothers’ Petaca—Borderlands History and Conservation” on September 2, 2021.

She participated in a dynamic discussion of the Espinosa Brothers, the Borderlands of Southern Colorado, the history surrounding the Petaca and its conservation goals.

Julie Parker is an Art Objects Conservator in private practice since 2009, specializing in the conservation of a wide variety of materials including decorative arts, ethnographic materials, modern and contemporary works, composite materials, ceramics, wood, metal and other diverse three-dimensional artifacts. She graduated from the SUNY Buffalo Art Conservation Masters program, with fellowships at The National Parks Service, International Conservation Services in Sydney Australia, and The Denver Art Museum.
