FREE Community Health Education Class in Denver

March 10, 2015 - April 14, 2015

A six-week class to help people deal with the challenges of living with an ongoing health condition such as heart disease, a lung condition, cancer, diabetes or arthritis called Healthier Living Colorado™ will be held on Tuesdays from March 10-April 14 at A.F. Williams Family Medicine Center, 3055 Roslyn St., Suite 100, in Denver. The free class meets from 4:30-7 p.m. and is open to the community.

Classes are highly participatory, where mutual support and success help build the participants’ confidence in their ability to manage their health and maintain an active, fulfilling life. Participants can expect a relaxed class atmosphere, mutual support and improved confidence in dealing with medical issues. Topics include working with your doctor, managing medications, starting an exercise program, relaxation techniques, dealing with negative emotions, managing symptoms, eating well, setting weekly goals and effective problem solving.
Classes have been shown to reduce participant hospitalization and outpatient visits, improve exercise levels and improve general health.

Healthier Living Colorado™ is the chronic disease self-management program developed at Stanford University. Whatever the diagnosis, this class teaches and supports participants in making better choices and practicing self-management.

For more information and to register, contact Kellee Jackson at COAW, 303-984-1845 or email kellee@coaw.org. For more information on the programs, visit www.coaw.org.
