Presented by Friends of Chamber Music, four-time Grammy Award-winning Eighth Blackbird will perform at the Newman Center’s Gates Hall on Monday, April 23, 7:30 p.m.

Since its formation in 1996, Eighth Blackbird has excelled at shaking up the classical world and injecting fun into everything it does. Launched by six entrepreneurial Oberlin Conservatory undergraduates, Eighth Blackbird is “one of the smartest, most dynamic contemporary classical ensembles on the planet” according to the Chicago Tribune. Over the course of two decades, the group has commissioned and premiered hundreds of works by numerous composers and released eight acclaimed recordings. They were named Musical America’s 2017 Ensemble of the Year, and in 2016 were the inaugural recipients of Chamber Music America’s Visionary Award.

Tickets are $40 each; patrons 30-years-old and under are $10.
