Scholars Unlimited Afterschool Program to Host
‘Future Investigators STEM Night’ at Ashley Elementary
The Scholars Unlimited afterschool program at Denver’s Ashley Elementary School will host a Future Investigators STEM Night on February 18, an event for the entire family that will spotlight the importance of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), and introduce parents to fun and educational STEM activities they can do with their children at home.
More than 100 parents and children are expected to attend. Scholars Unlimited president Kathleen King will be speaking and Ashley Elementary principal Zachary Rahn will be in attendance.
STEM activities will include:
• Engineering bridges, towers, and more using a variety of shapes.
• Mathematics game creation as part of a weekly afterschool club.
• A representative from Surrey Satellites US will provide an interactive presentation about gravity, mass, and weight. Students will receive a take-home satellite model.
• Fun with liquids, including a will-it-float game, butter churning and water bottle tornadoes.
What: Future Investigators STEM Night, featuring fun, hands-on STEM activities (and frozen yogurt!)

Where: Ashley Elementary, 1914 Syracuse Street, Auditorium and Gym
Who: Ashley students, families and staff, joined by local policymakers
The Scholars Unlimited program’s partners include the Denver Parks and Recreation Department, Ashley Elementary School, Surrey Satellite US, Teacher’s Professional Resource, the Afterschool Alliance, and Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt.
