Glory of Venice: Masterworks of the Renaissance

October 2, 2016 - February 12, 2017

Behold the creativity and skills of the Venetian Renaissance artists who developed a distinct and unforgettable style that shaped Venice into an international hub of art and culture at the Denver Art Museum exhibition Glory of Venice: Masterworks of the Renaissance. Explore the stylistic developments—such as the use of oil paints and sensitivity toward light—that allowed masters like Titian, Giorgione and Bellini to introduce elements of depth, emotion and dimension to their work.

The exhibition features more than 50 significant works from important Italian collections, the DAM’s permanent collection and loans from institutions across the United States and Europe. Enjoy the rare opportunity to see artworks from Venice’s Gallerie dell’Accademia, as well as the Scuola Grande di San Rocco in Venice and the Fondazione Magnani Rocca in Parma, Italy. Many of the paintings on view rarely leave Europe, and the Denver Art Museum is the debut showing of this exhibition.

Included in general museum admission; free for youth 18 and younger every day thanks to Free for Kids, and free for all visitors on museum free days, thanks in part to the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD). The museum is closed Mondays. For more information about the exhibition and related programming and lectures, please visit denverartmuseum.org.
