Social Uplift Ministry presents community a discussion on “Healing Racism”. We will move into the roots of racism and develop tools to better understand our own views and begin the healing of ourselves, community and in our nation.

Many use racial and ethnic differences to spread fear, hate, and judgment that separates people. Racism is a social construct based on false categories of separation and has been used as a systemic tool to perpetuate oppression in our nation and around the world. Although racism is almost universally condemned across the political spectrum, what exactly constitutes racism (and what merits the label of ‘racist’) is not so clear. Our nation continues to be in a heated battle over what racism looks like and feels like. Join our discussion which will set politics aside (no political agenda) and deal with the humanitarian side of racism. Our discussion will be facilitated by Rev Sheila Gautreaux, an African-American Unity minister from Houston Texas and Rev Susan Gumm from Unity on the Avenue. Come and heal your heart so that others may be healed. Note: Rev Sheila speaks on this subject from a new perspective all throughout the Houston area.
