Heart Richard is a world premiere comedy about Richard III enthusiasts, Victorian undergarments,
and the lying liars that make theater.
Heart Richard is a world premiere comedy about Richard III enthusiasts, Victorian undergarments,
and the lying liars that make theater. Based, in part, on the discovery of Richard’s body under a
parking lot ten years ago and influenced by Shakespeare’s play, this production explores art as
propaganda and questions our tumultuous relationship to history. Taking place at an ill-fated
meeting of the Richard III Society, Heart Richard playfully blurs the lines between theater and real life
(something not uncommon in the oeuvre of Buntport, along with large talking animals and an
abundance of fake mustaches).
