JCRC Date With The State
January 15, 2020
The Jewish Community Relations Council will urge legislators to consider legislation on stronger Holocaust and genocide education in Colorado middle and high schools. Senate President Leroy Garcia and House Speaker KC Becker will share goals.
On Wednesday, January 15, members and supporters of the JCRC will participate in its biennial Date with the State at the Colorado State Capitol. The group will hear about the top legislative issues from Senate President Leroy Garcia and Speaker of the House KC Becker. Eileen Hershenov, Senior Vice President, Policy for the Anti-Defamation League, will deliver a keynote address on the importance of Holocaust and genocide education. Members will meet with their legislators to discuss the issue of Holocaust and genocide education and other policy issues of importance to Colorado’s Jewish community.
The noted rise in anti-Semitic incidents and crimes over the last few years, especially in Colorado, and the troubling decline in understanding of what happened during the Holocaust, have brought the issue of Holocaust education to the forefront of the JCRC.
Date with the State will take place:
Wednesday, January 15
7:30-9:00am: Colorado State Capitol
9:00am-1:00pm: First Baptist Church
Tickets are $36 including lunch and $18 without lunch. Dietary laws observed. To register or for more information, JEWISHcolorado.org/DateWithTheState.
