League of Women Voters Denver presents: Colorado Demographic Trends

February 19, 2019

Elizabeth Garner, State Demographer in the Colorado Department of Local Affairs, will help sort through all the raw data and historical patterns to make sense of the numbers, the polls, and divergent predictions?

League of Women Voters Denver presents:
Millennials, Boomers, Growth, Jobs, Housing, Mobility – Oh, my!

Colorado is simultaneously one of the youngest states and one of the fastest aging states in the country. We’re told Metro Denver is among the highest ranked cities among young professionals, contributing to our state having one of the fastest rates of growth in the nation. Millennials and Baby Boomers are often the focus of attention because these two populations impact the daily life of all our citizens in all age brackets. Throw in the reported changes in the race, ethnicity and household income disparity of our residents. And add to this swirling pot of population soup housing affordability, government revenue, job trends, transportation, accessibility to health care, education….. How to make sense of all the numbers, the polls, the divergent predictions?
Demographers are often called population sociologists. To help sort through all the raw data and historical patterns, LWVD has invited Elizabeth Garner to speak at the February 19 briefing. As our State Demographer in the Colorado Department of Local Affairs, Ms. Garner brings over 25 years of experience analyzing population and economic trends.
