Lowry Speaker Series Presents: “Brad and Melissa McQueen, Authors of Exposed: Tragedy & Triumph in Mountain Climbing”

May 3, 2016

The Lowry Speaker Series presents “Brad and Melissa McQueen, Authors of Exposed: Tragedy & Triumph in Mountain Climbing” on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 7:00-8:30P at the Eisenhower Chapel, 293 Roslyn Street, Denver (on Lowry). Admission is free; no reservations are necessary.

In May 2001, this Denver couple survived a blizzard (and frostbite) while stranded overnight on Mt. Evans during a freak late-spring storm. Offering examples of perseverance and overcoming adversity, Brad and Melissa will share the events and mistakes leading up to their rescue, the story of their physical and mental recovery, and the lessons they learned in courage and mental toughness from this harrowing experience.

Brad and Melissa McQueen are both avid hikers and climbers. Brad is a partner in the Denver-based CPA firm EKS&H, an adjunct professor at DU, and has climbed all of Colorado’s 14,000 foot peaks along with other mountains in the U.S. and abroad. Melissa is a passionate educator and outdoors person. She has climbed many of Colorado’s 14,000-foot peaks and Mt. Kilimanjaro in addition to attempts on Mt. Rainier and the Grand Teton.
