Lowry Speaker Series: What’s the Buzz about Bees?

February 16, 2021

Dr. Gabriela Chavarria, with the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, will talk about the Museum, wildlife and wild places in crisis, conservations efforts, and her specialty – bumblebees.

Join the Lowry Speaker Series at 7pm on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 for a VIRTUAL evening with Dr. Gabriela Chavarria, Chief Curator and Vice-President of the Science Division at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. Renowned for her research and leadership, Dr. Chavarria will enlighten our audience about the Museum, our wildlife and wild places in crisis, pollinator conservation and her specialty—bumblebees. Growing up in Mexico City, Dr. Chavarria was fascinated by insects, especially bees, and has devoted her career to the conservation of native pollinators. She came to the United States 30 years ago to complete her Ph.D. in Biology at Harvard University and has committed herself to protecting wildlands and wildlife, especially threatened and endangered species.

This virtual event is free and open to the public. We’ll be streaming the event live; visit www.lowryfoundation.org for the event link. For more information, call The Lowry Foundation at (303) 344-0481.
