Ludlow, Cokedale and Pueblo Trek
September 13, 2014 - September 14, 2014
Coal mining and steel production have shaped southern Colorado’s history. From Pueblo, home of the Steelworks Museum, to the infamous site of the 1914 Ludlow Massacre, expert guide Dr. Jonathan Rees will walk us through the legacy of Colorado steel and coal. We’ll visit History Colorado’s El Pueblo History Museum and it critically acclaimed Children of Ludlow exhibit and stop at the once-thriving coal camp of Cokedale. Let’s forge an understanding of how commerce created towns and historic clashes alike. Difficulty Level: Ambitious.
