Nashville Ballet with Rhiannon Giddens
March 29, 2022
Featuring an original score by Grammy Award-winning artist and MacArthur “Genius” Grant recipient Rhiannon Giddens with the spoken word performed by Nashville poet and author of Lucy Negro Redux Caroline Randall Williams.
This Nashville Ballet original production centers on the mysterious love life of literary great William Shakespeare. The piece explores the author’s thesis that the “Dark Lady” and the “Fair Youth” — the subjects and inspiration of hundreds of Shakespeare’s love sonnets — were undoubtably a black woman and a young man respectively.
