NY Times Best-selling Author Jemar Tisby Speaks about Becoming Anti-Racist
November 5, 2022 - November 6, 2022
Acclaimed author and historian Jemar Tisby will speak at Montview Boulevard Presbyterian Church about fighting racism. Saturday workshop 9a-noon. Sunday lectures 8:30a-noon. Free and open to the public. More info at www.montview.org/tisby
Tisby’s first book, “The Color of Compromise: The Truth about the Church’s Complicity in Racism,” and his accompanying videos have been used by nearly 100 Montview members in study sessions over the past 18 months. Montview recently began offering classes to explore Tisby’s second series, “How to Fight Racism.”
“Dr. Tisby has done extensive research on the origins of racism in the U.S. and how the church has been complicit. He gives us such a comprehensive understanding of why as Christians we are required to fight racism,” said Dianne Briscoe McKenzie, co-leader of the Montview anti-racism training initiative. “I hope Dr. Tisby’s visit will encourage more people to engage in this study and realize that we all have a role to play. If we ignore racism, we are complicit in it.”
