Summer Sacred Art
June 15 - July 20
This is an exploration of major world religions through music, visual art, dance and stories for children going into kindergarten through going into 4th grade, Fall 2020. $125/session 9:00-2:00 M-F; $75 add-on for extended care 2:00-5:30 M-F.
Summer Sacred Art is a week packed with learning through discussions, objects, vocabulary, music, visual art projects and stories. We look at one major religion each day and end with a celebration of all we have learned on Friday. Each week of this program is identical. Our daily schedule includes a curriculum-related snack and a playtime after lunch. Your family will need to provide lunch. The fee for the camp from 9:00-2:00 is $125/child. This year we are adding an extended option. A second staff will share activities and outdoor play with the children until pick up at 5:30. The fee for extended care is $75/child.
In Summer Sacred Art we follow threads of sacred texts, sacred spaces, great teachers, traditions, and holidays. Our time together is marked by respect and acceptance of each religion. We celebrate the similarities and differences that we find as we try on and create from these. We also spend time getting to know each other and building friendships old and new during this five-day camp, again in an atmosphere of respect and acceptance. We also have a really good time!
We believe that our children hold the future of peace and civility in our world and that these are in very capable hands. Our children know things that we adults have forgotten about compassion, kindness, and cooperation. We honor these qualities in them and encourage them to share these in our diverse and beautiful world and its religions.
