For his follow-up to the Oscar-winning THE ENGLISH PATIENT, director Anthony Minghella turned to Patricia Highsmith’s 1955 novel THE TALENTED MR. RIPLEY, the story of a young sociopath who charms his way into la dolce vita, 1950s-style. As in THE ENGLISH PATIENT, the central figure is a man who has been misidentified — but in the case of Tom Ripley (Matt Damon), that case of mistaken identity is not accidental.
