Join us for a unique wellness event for new mothers.
Speaker Topics:
Integrative Medicine for New Moms: What the Health?
Lisa Corbin, MD will provide an overview of integrative medicine and discuss services for new moms such as acupuncture, chiropractic care for mom and baby, mind-body therapies and massage therapy.
Get Moving Mom
The Get Moving Mom portion of the Wellness with Baby program is led by a licensed physical therapist who will help you learn how to find those abdominals and pelvic floor muscles again. Strengthening the pelvic floor muscles can help manage prolapse as well as symptoms of urinary incontinence both of which are highly correlated with vaginal births. In this class you will also learn specific exercises to recruit abdominal muscles to help you manage lower back pain as well as rectus diastasis.
Mindful Moms
The Mindful Mom’s portion of the Wellness with Baby program is led by a licensed psychologist who will teach you mindfulness and relaxation practices to use while expecting and once baby arrives. Mindfulness meditation involves fully focusing one’s awareness on the present moment. It helps the mind to move away from the rushed, worrying state, and come into a calmer, more relaxed and focused state of being.
New Mom Nutrition
The New Mom Nutrition portion of the Wellness with Baby program is led by an endocrinologist who will educate you on the nutritional demands new moms are faced with and discuss how to get your body the nutrients it needs so you have the energy to keep up with life with baby.
Lactation Support
Breast care is important at all times in a woman’s life. During breastfeeding, there are some special considerations such as managing engorgement, preventing clogged ducts and nipple comfort. During the lactation support portion of the Wellness with Baby program, a lactation consultant will discuss and answer questions about breastfeeding during infancy and beyond.
