when the blossom passes, what remains?

April 25

HOLDTIGHT Company’s “when the blossom passes, what remains?” will make its Colorado premiere this April 25-30th, 2023 at The Armory Denver, historically known as The Olympic Auditorium Complex.

Led by Gwendolyn Gussman, interdisciplinary performance art company, HOLDTIGHT, is bringing their latest performance piece to Denver this April. After a successful season in NYC last fall, when the blossom passes, what remains? will make its Colorado premiere this April 25-30th, 2023 at The Armory Denver, historically known as The Olympic Auditorium Complex. This work reconsiders how humans can better live in holistic balance with the earth by tuning in and tending to our own and collective bodies. Combining dance, live music, personal narrative/storytelling, ritual, sustainable scenography, and plant-based elixirs, this work uses the container of the show to practice reciprocity. Through psychological, ecological, somatic, and artistic research, we explore how our connection to our own bodies — in the physical, emotional, and spiritual senses — mirrors our connection to the earth. Participatory and intimate, this piece delves into how care, attunement, collective listening, and healing come into play when navigating eco-psychology. All aspects of this work’s production are as intentionally sourced, utilized, and recycled as possible, to ensure that the lifecycle of this project is continuous and thoughtful.
