 ook club pick: Strong Female Character by Fern Brady.\nAbout the book:\n
 Strong Female Character is about the years in between\, and the unique c
 ombination of sexism and ableism that so often prevents autistic women f
 rom getting diagnosed until adulthood. Coming from a working-class Scott
 ish Catholic family\, Fern wasn’t exactly poised to receive an open-mi
 nded acceptance of her neurodivergence. With the piercing clarity and wi
 t that has put her at the top of the British comedy scene\, she now refl
 ects on the ways her undiagnosed autism influenced her youth\, from the 
 tree that functioned as her childhood best friend to the psychiatric fac
 ility where she ended up when neither her parents nor school knew what t
 o do with her.\n**\nThe Fiction Beer Company Book Club meets on the thir
 d Monday of every month at 7pm. We discuss the monthly read\, our ever-g
 rowing TBR list\, and enjoy a beverage (or two) with the company of our 
 fellow bookish nerds. Finishing the book isn’t required\, but you’ll
  just have to live with the spoilers.
