Emily Griffith Offers Free Tax Filing Services

Individuals with household incomes less than $53,000 qualify for free tax assistance through the Tax Help Colorado Program at Emily Griffith Technical College. IRS-certified EGTC Accounting students and volunteers prepare and e-file tax returns for free and help families get valuable tax benefits. The service is confidential and offered from 5:30-8:30 on Wednesdays and Thursdays until April 14 at 1205 Osage. For more information about what to bring, visit emilygriffith.edu or call  (720) 423-4700.

LEAP Offers Efficient Home Heating

The Low-income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP) helps Coloradans pay winter home heating costs. It recently started the Crisis Intervention Program (CIP) and the Weatherization Assistance Program. These programs assist repairing or replacing home’s heating systems, and help reduce heating costs. To see if you qualify for LEAP’s programs, call toll-free 1-855-4-MY-HEAT (1-855-469-4328) or visit http://www.energyoutreach.org/get-help/applying-for-leap.

Denver Preschool Program to Provide Tuition Support Year Round

The Denver Preschool Program has extended tuition support through the summer months (June through August) for children enrolled at any any of the affiliated preschool programs within the City and County of Denver. This is possible because of Denver voters’ approval in 2014 to continue DPP funding from a dedicated sales tax. DPP Board also just voted to increase its tuition credit scale by 10 percent for the 2016-17 school year, making preschool more affordable for families living in Denver. For more information regarding DPP and any of their financial services, visit www.dpp.org.
