Participate in SUN’s Community Survey during March – Vote on Bike Lane Symbol Designs

Three submissions for the bike lane design contest. SUN is accepting submissions through the end of this month

Residents who would like to register opinions on community matters in SUN’s March 2020 survey should visit www.StapletonUnitedNeighbors.org to sign up for emails from SUN before March to receive a link to the survey when it is available, or to access a link to the survey directly in early March. The March 2020 survey will include voting on submissions to the Central Park Blvd Comfort Bike Lane design (three submissions pictured here), questions about preferences for school enrollment zones, commuting habits and more.

SUN’s March Monthly Meeting: Tues., May 17, 6:30–8:30pm (Central Park Rec Center)

Monthly meetings begin with updates from community partners (Denver Police, Northeast Transportation Connections, Denver Public Library, and Denver City Council District 8), followed by announcements, after which a speaker or topic is featured. In March, that speaker will be Dana Hoffman, Transportation Project Manager at City and County of Denver, with discussion around safe streets for cyclists, pedestrians, and cars.

SUN’s April Monthly Meeting: Tues., Apr. 21, 6:30–8:30pm (Central Park Rec Center)

Monthly meetings begin with updates from community partners (Denver Police, Northeast Transportation Connections, Denver Public Library, and Denver City Council District 8), followed by announcements, after which a speaker or topic is featured. In April, that topic will be Park Space. Speakers include Beth Nobles- Sand Creek Regional Greenway, Carol Wise – a Horticulturist in the department of Parks and Recreation who covers the Northeast Natural Areas, and other representatives from Denver Parks and Rec.

Annual Community Forum: Wed., May 13, 6–8:30pm (The Cube)

In May of 2020, SUN’s Annual Community Forum will be held at The Cube on Wednesday May 13th (in lieu of a 3rd Tuesday monthly SUN meeting for May). At this community meeting, the agenda will begin with SUN’s annual elections followed by development updates on retail and housing from Brookfield and other area developers; other speakers to be announced.

Seeking Candidates for a Diverse SUN Board

At the Annual Community Forum (2020 May 13th 6pm at The Cube) a slate of 8 candidates will be presented to the community for a vote to begin a 2-year term on the SUN board of directors. SUN seeks to have a board diverse in geography within Stapleton, sex, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, rental/ownership status, and professions. In addition to attending SUN’s monthly meetings, (SUN meets in the Central Park Rec Center on the 3rd Tuesday of most months from 6:30pm-8:30pm), interested candidates should contact Nominations Committee Chair Geoff Horsfall (geoff.horsfall@gmail.com) with questions, and to submit a biography of 250 words describing interests and relevant experiences. Interested candidates should have a passion for civic engagement, public service, and community. SUN is comprised solely of volunteers and is committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all members of our community.
