Paul McCartney Lookalike

Mike Oltersdorf posing as “Sir Paul.”

Strongly resembling Paul McCartney, Lowry resident Mike Oltersdorf has spent many years performing Beatles songs. In 2005, he thought he would have to stop performing when he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. But like the Beatles’ Blackbird lyrics, everyone has broken wings, but can still learn to fly.

Oltersdorf became inspired to make his Paul McCartney performances into motivational events for those going through challenges like himself. He also started a book about his life, The New Norm, which focuses on his relationship with his son, Dan, and lessons to be learned from Beatles’ lyrics.

Physical and cognitive symptoms from Parkinson’s prevented him from completing the book, so Dan took over the writing. He finished the book this past December. Now the father-son pair has launched a crowdfunding campaign to fund the book’s publication and distribution. So far they have raised $1,465 of their $7,500 goal.
