Has anyone else noticed the strange movements going on up in the old control tower? There have been several sightings of an elderly women gazing out the window as if awaiting a flight to arrive. The legend
is that she was expecting her husband to arrive on one of the last flights to land at the old airport from Milwaukee but he never got off the plane having run off with a younger friend of hers. She appears to be beckoning people to come up and help her.

Locals have been shinning flash lights and lasers to get a better look. Some of the sightings have been interesting.

Last year, many of the Video/Cinema Arts (VCA) high school students at Denver School of the Arts (DSA) were involved in the production of a 30-minute documentary film about DSA called “Do Something Awesome.” This effort was supported by the Colorado Office of Film, Television & Media. We’re excited to announce that the film is “in the can” and will debut on Colorado Public Television (CPT12) on Wednesday, November 4 at 7:00pm.

In celebration of this broadcast premiere, VCA will be hosting a “watch party” on November 4 from 6:30-8:30pm in the Schomp Theater at DSA (7111 Montview Blvd.). We will hear some live music by Jon Shockness (DSA alumnus and former Air Dubai frontman), view the live broadcast, meet the filmmakers, and have a brief reception to celebrate this major achievement. The event is free and open to the public. Please mark your calendars!

Aurora Symphony Orchestra is moving to North Middle School at Montview just west of Peoria this season. A story about us would be great. First concert is Sunday, Oct 4, 3:00 pm and will feature movie themes from Harry Potter, Dances with Wolves, Jurassic Park and more. Contact Norman@NormanGamboa.com for more information.

I would like to see an article on what type of commercial development will take place at the light rail station.

The Front Porch should do more stories on state legislation relevant to our community, especially regarding environmental bills and how Stapleton residents can get involved.

We have a lot of natural beauty surrounding us in Stapleton and there is an alarming lack on coverage on what is going on that threatens or protects the places we love.

I posted an article idea about a disc golf course in the letter to the editor section. I meant to post it here in the ideas for articles section. A disc golf course in Stapleton would be a great attraction with lots of benefits. There are little to no cost to the community/ parks service in building one so I am hoping an article on front porch could initiate interest in a conversation about building one.

I would like to see an article covering Centurylink’s Gigabit Fiber network in Stapleton. I have read they are only deploying it areas where they have access to overhead lines. That means Stapleton will not get the new fiber to the home service, except for new build areas. Can you guys contact Centurylink and find out if there are plans to provide the fiber service to existing Stapleton homes?

Buyer beware FC will do what they want with no regard for the intent of the Green Book nor the long term viability of Stapleton, slamming a 7-11 down in people’s backyards without any community input is just another example of their lack of any concern for Stapleton. The fact that the SDC and other so called design review committee’s let this happen just shows how corrupt the process is.

There should be a story about the under the radar, somewhat sneaky, 7-11 that is being built on Northfield Blvd. between Willow and Xanthia Streets. They just happened to put up an awning and put out their liquor licence application notice earlier this week, just a couple days after the release of the June edition of the Front Porch. We are now looking to back out of our new house contract. It just isn't right.
