Construction is underway at the Runway North development (above), located just south of I-70 at Central Park Blvd. Much of Central Park is already built out, but significant projects remain on the undeveloped land.
Approximately 100 frustrated neighbors who live on or near Emporia St. between MLK Jr. Blvd. and E. 26th Ave., just north of the Stanley Marketplace, are trying to mitigate large amounts of traffic flowing through their residential street.
The artist, Ty Gillespie, from Paonia, Colorado, says “Families, children, and housing are the essence of Central Park and my sculpture is about housing and for families.”

Stapleton United Neighbors announced in a Zoom meeting on Aug. 1 that 63% of the final vote favored Central Park for the new name. This is the story of how that name came to be.
Seeing the massive change in community awareness of racism after George Floyd’s death, representatives of neighborhood groups and the city quickly started on the path toward a new name for the Stapleton neighborhood. At the same time, individuals in the community, through rallies and yard signs, are showing their support for the protests and for Black lives.
Stapleton will once again be home to an official weather observation station. When the Stapleton airport closed in 1995, the National Weather Service moved Denver’s official weather observation station to Denver International Airport (DIA) twenty miles east of the city.
