The Indie Prof reviews the Netfilx series When They See Us, about race relations in New York City in the 1980s and The Mountain, a film about a 50s-era traveling doctor who performed lobotomies in the waning days of the practice.
July is Science-Fiction month, and this year marks the return of the 9th annual Science-Fiction Film Series. I host the entire six-week series, in conjunction with the Museum of Nature and Science (DMNS) and the Denver Film Society (DFS).
Rather than the normal column of one new release and one streaming film/show, this month I give you two reviews of recent, wonderful, historical documentaries.
The Denver film community recently lost a giant with the passing of Brit Withey, the Artistic Director for the Denver Film Society. Brit was the driving force behind the Denver Film Festival, the Science Fiction Film Series, and countless other series, events, and programs at the Film Center.
