Schools and community organizations across Denver and Aurora are seeing more families who need help putting food on the table this holiday season. The outpouring of support has come in different ways, from students volunteering, creative canned food drives, and some neighborly competition.

As her teammates gathered to celebrate their shared victory, Lila Heskin, an eighth grader at McAuliffe International School, pulled herself out of the pool. Before she stood for a round of hugs, Lila attached her prosthetic leg.

Voters Approve Vibrant Denver Bond
Even as the City of Denver faces a $200 million budget shortfall in its 2025–26 fiscal period, Denver voters decided to approve $950 million in debt for the Vibrant Denver bond package. Measures 2A-2E were all passed in the Nov. 4 election. The bond will fund infrastructure maintenance and cultural projects across the city.
