Red-tailed Hawk

The red-tailed hawk is the most common hawk in North America. Red-tailed hawks are year-round residents in Colorado. They perch atop telephone poles, eyes fixed on the ground for the movements of a vole or a rabbit. They are more often seen soaring above open fields, slowly turning circles on their broad, rounded wings. Wingspan from 3.4 to 4.8 ft. Average weight  2.4 lbs.

Blue Grosbeak

The male is blue with two brown wing bars. The female is mainly brown with scattered blue feathers on the upperparts and two brown wing bars.
