Angela and Trey Woessner finish each other’s sentences, seamlessly. That unity of vision and energy has likely helped them succeed in business. The parents of two boys, ages 9 and 12, are the first franchisees of Brixx Wood Fired Pizza west of the Mississippi, that opened in Northfield/Conservatory Green February 8. A Westminster location opens this spring and there are plans to open others in the Denver market. The couple are already franchisees of a popular sports bar chain in Arvada, so taking on a new business together is nothing new to the couple.
Brixx serves 35 different 10-inch pizzas that are turned out of the 550-degree oven in 10–13 minutes. They also serve appetizers, salads, sandwiches, wraps, kids’ meals, dessert including house-made tiramisu and a s’mores pizza that is their sons’ favorite, hands-down. There are daily specialty pizzas and half-price deals during certain hours. An indoor/outdoor bar and Colorado-themed graphics are just some of the aspects created with Stapleton and surrounding communities in mind.
The ability to offer wheat or gluten-free dough, vegan cheese and vegetarian and half-and-half toppings at no extra charge was also important to the couple. “This place just resonated for us,” says Angela. “We wanted a place that we could go to every day and find something on the menu we loved that would be fine for our families, or on a date night together or to hang out with our friends. Brixx answered that for us.”
“As we grow with the community, we’ll figure out things like how to get involved with the farmers market and concerts in the park,” says Trey. “We’re all about the community, all about the schools, teams and organizations and helping with fundraisers. We want to be a really good neighbor and conscious of what’s going on. We encourage people to reach out to us.”
“We kissed a lot of frogs to find this franchise,” says Angela. “We waited a long time to find this spot and it’s our little gem.”
