The biggest weekend of the year for narrow gauge and railroad history enthusiasts celebrates steam-era railroading in Colorado with steam train rides, a morning parade of Galloping Goose motorcars and a steam locomotive, special lectures, tours of rare railcars, a used railroad book sale, and more. For 2025, the theme is “Fanning the Future!” which commemorates the pioneering railfan groups that gave many Coloradans their first taste of up-close-and-personal railroading, including the Rocky Mountain Railroad Club (RMRRC) and the Intermountain Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society (NRHS), which played a vital role in preserving Colorado’s railroad heritage.
