Poetry on the Porch is a FREE summer series every Saturday in July from 1:00 to 3:00 PM at the Center for Colorado Women’s History. Join us in our garden to experience the work of four featured poets and share your own. Hosted by author, educator and poet, Marissa Forbes, this series includes an open mic for all poets, free snacks & water. Come for the poetry and stay for the community.

Pre-registration for this event is encouraged. Your ticket will be scanned inside our carriage house upon arrival. Each Saturday has its own ticket.

July 20th Featured Poet Becca Downs (she/they) is a writer, editor, educator, and poet who earned her MFA from the Mile-High MFA program at Regis University. She’s the author of Acid Rain Epithalamium (forthcoming with Beyond the Veil Press), and her poem “Burning Age” has been nominated for the 2024 Pushcart Prize. They lead weekly creative writing workshops throughout Denver and read poetry submissions for The Rumpus. You can find them on Instagram at @beccad___.

Accessibility Note: There is a ramp entrance to our carriage house where check in will take place and a sidewalk to where our outdoor program will be held. There is one concrete step to the porch. Accessible microphones both hand-held and handsfree will be available.
