ABOUT THE FILM
“The Tennessee 11” follows eleven strangers from across the political spectrum as they come together to find common ground on one of the country’s most divisive topics: gun rights and safety. Despite deeply held beliefs, these everyday Tennesseans uncover understanding, respect, connection, and real solutions—just miles from where political gridlock on the issue plagues the Tennessee legislature. The film explores the power of conversation, mutual respect, and understanding in addressing the difficult topic of firearm-involved injuries and deaths in the U.S.

This film is a project of Builders, a nonpartisan movement equipping people worldwide to overcome toxic polarization and extremist thinking to solve our toughest problems by illuminating the causes and effects of toxic polarization, demonstrating the power of citizens working together across lines of difference, and activating people from all walks of life with the skills to become more effective problem solvers. ABOUT THE ORGANIZER
Based at the CU medical campus, FIPI strives to prevent firearm-related injuries and deaths in homes and communities across Colorado and the U.S. through collaboration, research, and education. We are committed to an approach rooted in the recognition of a common goal of health and security, respect for and consideration of a wide range of views and experiences, and engagement of impacted communities and those with lived experiences.

FIPI has been engaging in and leading difficult but necessary conversations about gun safety and injury prevention in Colorado for over a decade. True to our values, we engage with organizations and individuals across the political spectrum and with a range of lived experiences to advance prevention of firearm injuries and violence of all types including suicide, community violence, and mass shootings. We hope this event is a reminder that change is possible when we’re willing to talk, listen, and act together, and serves as an invitation to support and join our efforts.
