DSST: Stapleton senior Bailee Cotton, who has a 3.9 GPA and close to 10 AP classes on her transcript, also has a full-ride scholarship to play basketball at the University of Wyoming. Cotton, a shooting forward, led the Frontier League in both points scored and rebounds last season. As a team captain, Bailee helped the Lady Knights to a 24-3 record and a third place finish in the Class 3A semifinals.

“The university is a perfect fit for me,” said Bailee Cotton. “It has my exact major, architectural engineering, and it is giving me the opportunity to continue playing basketball. It’s a great balance of education and athletics.”

Bailee became the second student in the history of DSST: Stapleton High School to receive a full-ride scholarship to an NCAA Division 1 school for athletics and academics. Bailee’s sister, Bradlee Cotton, joined the ceremony via Skype. Bradlee, a freshman at the University of Northern Arizona, was the first student athlete to receive a full-ride athletic scholarship to an NCAA Division 1 school last year. The University of Northern Arizona also recruited Bailee, but she ultimately decided to have a college experience separate from her sister.
