Montview Lane Closures Over Next Six Months
As part of the Lower Westerly Creek Project, a new roadway bridge will be built, which will affect commutes along Montview Blvd. All westbound lanes of Montview from Clinton to Yosemite will be closed from 7:30am to 5pm for three months. Through Sept. 27 Denver Curfew Law for Kids 17 and Younger
As part of the Denver Public Safety SafeNite program, a curfew law is being enforced through Sept. 27. Youth 17 and younger cannot be in a public place or on public property from 11pm–5am Sunday through Thursday, and midnight–5am Friday and Saturday. There are some exceptions; for example, if a minor is accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Youth who break the law will be transported to the Denver Juvenile Services Center and written a citation. For more information, visit denvergov.org.
Meet Carpool Buddies
Do you make a long commute alone every day? Northeast Transportation Connections can help find neighbors for carpooling. At 4pm, May 7 at Wynkoop Brewing Company (18th and Wynkoop), commuters are invited for a Rush Hour Happy Hour to eat, drink and connect with people who have similar commutes. Based on the number of people commuting to the same area, Northeast Transportation Connections will potentially set up a carpool or even a vanpool (where the van is provided). This event is supported by the Denver Regional Council of Governments, Way to Go, Smart Commute Metro North and Downtown Denver Partnership. Planned Parenthood Launches GYT (Get Yourself Tested) Campaign
Many young people in Colorado will not get tested because of cost and lack of awareness. In fact, one in two sexually active young people contract an STD by the time they’re 25, and most won’t even know they have one. The Planned Parenthood GYT Campaign increases awareness about STDs and how to prevent them, and promotes more open conversation between partners and health care providers. Two days a week they offer STD testing for $10 (discounted price). There is a location at 7155 E. 38th. For more information, call 1.800.230.PLAN or visit www.pprm.org for other locations.
