The Northfield Nighthawks met the #1-ranked Windsor Wizards in the Girls’ Varsity 4A State Championships on May 24. In front of a hometown crowd at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park, the Lady Nighthawks protected the Nest through a scoreless game and two overtime periods. The Nighthawks finally prevailed during the penalty kick round, where freshman goalie Chloe Rhodes made the winning save, with a final score of 5-4 Northfield. This is the first state championship for the Northfield girls’ soccer team, and it matches the state championship attained by the boys’ soccer team last fall.
