Stanley Marketplace, with more than 100,000 square feet of space in the old Stanley Aviation building, is on its way to becoming a community marketplace with 35-40 small businesses. Currently, Stanley is processing 125 letters of intent from businesses that would like to locate there as they select their final tenants. They anticipate 100 percent of the space will be fully leased in the next 30 days. Their plan is to have all businesses move in at once, but with the project still in demolition mode, a date has not been set. Stanley Marketplace is located at 25th and Dallas St. in Northwest Aurora, adjoining Stapleton.

Logan House Coffee
Logan House Coffee will open their first coffee/wine bar at the Stanley. “We roast, grind and package all our own coffee,” said co-owner Brooks Gagstetter. “Our production facility will be enclosed in plate glass, so people can see the beans straight from the farm and how they are roasted. Our space is just inside the Stanley’s front doors, so we’ll keep the marketplace well-caffeinated!”

Brooks and his partner, Andre Janusz, have offered their fresh-roasted coffee beans online to consumers since 2013. “We bottle our coffee beans in recycled wine bottles,” Gagstetter said. “Glass is a great container to keep coffee fresh, and it looks great. Now that we’ll have retail, it’s a natural extension to also serve wine.”

Gagstetter appreciates the Stanley’s business model. “Mark’s idea [Mark Shaker, the developer]—what he calls the ‘Stanifesto’—is that all the businesses will work together to do what’s best for the community.”

Symmetry 360 Massage
Symmetry 360 Massage started in Highlands Square in 2008, where partners Celeste O’Brien and Kina Ueda shared a one-room massage practice. The business has since expanded to include locations in the Denver Tech Center and Golden, where 37 massage therapists now work on clients.

“We weren’t looking to expand into the Stapleton area, but when we toured the space, met Mark and learned about the Stanley’s community focus, our whole bodies lit up and tingled,” said O’Brien. “The thought process for business owners is genius: there’s only one business in each industry, so we won’t be competing and we’ll work together to service clients.

“Our business philosophy is to build relationships. As our society becomes faster and more techy, we lose contact with each other. The Stanley will be a good place to hang out as a community.”

Happy Cakes Bakeshop
Happy Cakes Bakeshop will open its third shop at the Stanley. Started in Highlands Square in 2007, the bakery expanded to Longmont in 2013. The endeavor is managed by four partners: Sara Bencomo, Laura Reynolds, Lisa Herman and Stacy Walker.

“We’ll be joining lots of other Highlands businesses at the Stanley,” said Bencomo, a Stapleton resident. “It’s nice because we already know so many people who will be there.”

Happy Cakes’ cozy 500-square-foot shop will be situated in the common market area on the main floor. “We’ll be able to work with our neighboring businesses easily,” Bencomo said. “Maybe we’ll do a birthday party package with Sweet Cow Ice Cream and the chocolatier that will be there.

“The Stanley is a fun project and Stapleton is in dire need of more small businesses. My friends in Stapleton are thrilled.”
