On Wednesday morning, the moon had a spooky red glow during the “Blood Moon” Lunar Eclipse. Stapleton resident Joel Spector captured the eclipse at Alton Court between 33rd and 35th avenues and created the composite photo shown here.
The eclipse, which was visible in all of North America, was red because light reflected from the lunar surface passed through Earth’s atmosphere, where the sun’s rays are scattered, stripping the other colors in the spectrum, according to NPR.
