NE Denver residents will find the following candidates on their ballot:

US Senate

UdallMark Udall-D

As a lifelong Westerner, I hold an unwavering belief in the promise of our state and our people. I’ve proven that I can successfully work across party lines to keep Colorado moving forward. I am focused on building a stronger middle class with the opportunity for a good paying job, affordable higher education, and a secure retirement. We need to make sure that the economy gives everyone a fair shot—not just the wealthy. Coloradans have demonstrated tremendous resiliency since the 2013 flood and the counter-productive federal government shutdown. I was proud to lead the effort in Washington to secure more than $770 million to help our communities recover from last year’s disasters. And I’ll always protect Coloradans’ right to be left alone, to live life on their own terms. I will always stand-up for the rights of Coloradans. And I’m fighting to keep Colorado moving forward.

Cory Gardner-R

US House

HeadShot2014Diana DeGette

I am proud to represent Colorado’s First Congressional District and serve as a national leader on the issues that matter to us all. I am leading a bipartisan effort to modernize our medical research system and bring cures to patients faster. Last year, I steered legislation to President Obama expanding opportunities for small hydropower projects, bringing renewable energy to new locations across Colorado and the country. As the co-chair of the House Pro-Choice Caucus, I continue to stand strong so that every woman maintains the right to make her own healthcare decisions. With your support, I will continue to work for a stronger economy and the priorities and values we share.

Martin-Walsh_3428Rcolor-(1)Martin Walsh-R

I am running for Congress because I believe that we can do better. The people of Denver are not being served well by Diana DeGette.  Folks are wildly unhappy with Congress.  Diana DeGette has been in Congress since the nineties.  She is part of the problem and not part of the solution. If elected, I promise two things.  First, I will work hard on your behalf.  It sounds so simple, yet we don’t currently have someone working hard for us.  Rep. DeGette stays in Washington and doesn’t find time to meet with constituents.  I will do better. Second, I will do everything in my power to restore fiscal sanity.  If we stay on our current fiscal path, we will bankrupt our country in a few decades.  We must leave a better legacy for our children and grandchildren. Are you happy with Congress today?  If not, I ask for your vote in November.

Governor

John Hickenlooper-D

(No statement received from candidate)

bob-beauprez-2014Bob Beauprez-R

A Colorado native, buffalo rancher, author, former dairyman and Member of Congress, Bob Beauprez is running for Governor to make Colorado the Opportunity State once again. He knows what it means to live the American Dream. After 42 years in the family dairy business, alongside his wife Claudia he took on a struggling bank on the verge of failure and turned it into a model community bank that employed hundreds of Coloradans and enabled thousands of Colorado entrepreneurs to pursue their American Dream.

As governor, Bob will improve public safety by working with local law enforcement agencies. He’ll improve education outcomes by restoring rights to parents and teachers inside the classroom and focusing on improving early childhood literacy. And he’s committed to making Colorado’s economy stronger by cutting regulation and vetoing any job-killing legislation.

Secretary of State

Neguse-Photo-2014Joe Neguse-D

As a first generation American, Joe has been driven all his life to give back to the community, state and country that have given him and his family the freedom and opportunity to succeed.  A successful attorney, civic leader and public servant, he has worked hard to ensure that others have those same opportunities.  As Secretary of State, Joe work to ensure that every Colorado citizen has equal access to the ballot and to empower voters to increase participation in our elections. Joe is also committed to making Colorado the best state in the country to start and grow a business.

Williams.Wayne-7202-4x5Wayne Williams-R

Elected County Clerk from Colorado’s biggest county, Wayne Williams is the only candidate who has actually run elections and the only Certified Elections/Registration Administrator. When a devastating wildfire attacked Wayne’s community, voters were completely cut off.  Wayne Williams ensured that every citizen had the opportunity to vote – delivering and receiving ballots in extra-ordinary ways. When Democrats in another county faced a challenging election that needed run fairly and honestly, they selected Republican Wayne Williams.  Senior Democrats with whom Wayne serves endorse Wayne because they know he’s fair. Wayne has been a leader in making improvements.   He expanded voting opportunities while running award-winning elections—adding 24/7 drop boxes, expanding allowed photo IDs, and running a recall with 7 different rule sets. Wayne Williams provides great customer service–he has the only office in the state open on Saturdays. Wayne’s office has been a model of efficiency, openness, and transparency – while keeping costs low.

Treasurer

Betsy-MarkeyBetsy Markey-D

Hello Colorado! I want to be your next State Treasurer. I have owned two successful businesses, managed their budgets, made payrolls, and created jobs. I also have extensive experience in the public and private sector bringing people together. I will show up, work with both parties and be transparent and accountable to the taxpayers. I will be active in the capitol building and around the state, including attending PERA meetings, while working on solutions that protect Colorado taxpayers. Something my opponent hasn’t done. I will reinstate the State Taxpayer Accountability Report. It shows where taxpayer money comes from, and where it goes. The current Treasurer has never produced a report. Also, good government finds creative ways to do more with less while being innovative and making our money go further. I will be a leader and make that happen. Please visit my website at www.betsymarkey.com. I hope to count on your vote!

walkerstapleton-(1)Walker Stapleton-R

Prior to assuming office in 2011, I spent my entire career in the private sector, serving as CEO and CFO of various private and publicly traded companies. My extensive private sector background served as fantastic preparation for the job as State Treasurer, and in my first four years on the job, I have fought tirelessly to promote common sense fiscal policy to the office. Under my watch, the State Treasurer’s office has successfully implemented numerous reforms that have saved the taxpayers of Colorado millions of dollars. I am running for reelection because there is more work to be done, and with your support, I will continue to fight every day for the taxpayers of this great state.

Attorney General

Don-Quick-photoDon Quick-D

I grew up in Colorado and decided to raise my family here. I believe in our state and its future, and that is why I’m running for Attorney General: to protect and preserve the Colorado we all treasure. As a 26-year prosecutor, I’ve always put public safety ahead of partisan politics. As Attorney General, I will continue to fight public corruption regardless of party, defend a woman’s right to make her own health care decisions, and ensure that the civil rights of all Coloradans are protected. I will also keep our communities safe from violent criminals and predators to protect the most vulnerable in our society – our children, veterans, and the elderly. For more details about my qualifications and vision, go to www.quickforcolorado.com and I hope to earn your support.

Thank you to the Front Porch for giving me this opportunity to communicate with my constituents in House District 6. If you do me the honor of re-electing me this fall, I promise to continue to be accessible to you, and to work hard to represent you well. That doesn’t mean that we’ll always agree, but I will so my best to communicate with you, and to be responsive to your communications with me. I plan to continue to focus on the issues I’ve been working on since I was first elected in 2008: initiative reform, tax policy and education funding. Based on a plea from a constituent last winter, I’m also exploring ways to make end of life decisions more patient-centered, while working closely with those who provide compassionate end of life care. Please feel free to contact me at lois@loiscourt.com. Or by phone at 303 355-3546. Thank you.

I also chair the oversight committee for the Health Exchange and am a member of the Criminal and Juvenile Justice Commission. I appreciate your support.

Washington-candidate-photoJeffrey Washington-R

Born in Oklahoma City, OK in 1979, Mr. Washington moved to Denver in 2008 to study biology and earn his PhD in Microbiology at Metro State University. Jeffrey says, “I see the challenges our community faces and I truly believe that a free-market, capitalism system is the best economic practice for society,” adding, “it offers people of the inner city more freedom, choice and opportunity.” Mr. Washington’s passion for public service began while serving in the student government assembly at Metro State. He was a passionate advocate for student veterans and played a key role in having health insurance added on as part of their tuition ensuring their insurance was covered by their GI bills.  He has also pushed for more local control over public services by putting together the Five Points Metropolitan District which creates a special district to meet the many needs of residents within HD 8.  Visit www.democracy.com/HD8 or call 720.569.6241.

RTD

Alec-Garbini_photo-at-RTD-eventAlec Garbini

Alec Garbini has lived in Park Hill and Stapleton for 37 years. He knows District B. He is running on a platform that has three focus points – the future of RTD, increasing ridership by keeping passengers safe and comfortable and the importance of getting the busses and the trains to work together to transport riders to employment centers such as downtown and the Anshutz Medical Campus. His professional background is in project management where he was engaged in planning new communities and constructing buildings within them. He understands how transportation impacts the way people live. And as former chair of the Jefferson County Economic Development Corporation he was an early supporter of FasTracks. Most importantly, he feels that taxpayers need to see the value of their investment in RTD. “The system needs to focus on the people who pay for it,” he states.

Barbara-Deadwyler-photo-at-rtd-eventBarbara Deadwyler

RTD is about serving people not just mega projects.
As an elected member of the RTD Board of Directors,
one of my fundamental responsibilities is to advocate
for the transit needs of residents in District B,
which is anchored by Northeast Denver and North Aurora.
