Out with the burgers, and in with the chicken wings. Locally owned restaurant Fire on the Mountain is coming to the former Tag Burger space in the Eastbridge Town Center.

The owners are taking over the area and much of the equipment, which is why there are still tables and chairs on the patio of the site at 10155 E. 29th Dr.

Co-owner Andrea West said the restaurant is “turnkey,” so it won’t take much to change it into what operators want their restaurant to be: A “community driven and a locally focused place.” They’ll add some artwork, but there’s already a lot in place, West said.

Fire on the Mountain opened 15 years ago in the Highlands neighborhood with a second location in Washington Park. West said that expanding Fire on the Mountain into Central Park makes sense because people here are “proud of where they live.” She said she loves the greenbelts, trails, and community spirit of the area.

The restaurant’s focus is on chicken wings with 15 sauces made in house every day. “It’s all about the sauce,” West said. They also serve sandwiches, salads, appetizers, and desserts, along with craft beers.

The eatery’s name refers to a song by the Grateful Dead, so there’s a little “hippie flair,” West said. But you’ll also find people watching a game, she said, and it’s a place where families can bring kids and let them be kids.

Work will begin soon, and if all goes as planned, West hopes to open the doors of this “sweet little spot” on Labor Day weekend.

The original Fire on the Mountain locations opened in Oregon in 2005. West and her business partner brought the concept to Colorado.
