In the Feb. 1 article, “Local Schools Leading the Way in Integration,” we were satisfied to read about new efforts in the Greater Park Hill and Stapleton communities to push for more integrated schools. As educators, we’re encouraged that our colleagues understand the moral imperative of serving students from all backgrounds.

In mid-August, Black Lives Matter 5280 (BLM5280) requested Stapleton’s name be changed because of Mayor Ben Stapleton’s association with the KKK. More than 100 people gathered in September to discuss the topic.
Middle Schoolers Pass AP Exams

Last spring, nine brave eighth-graders at Denver Language School (DLS) took and successfully passed college-level Advanced Placement (AP) exams in either Chinese or Spanish Language and Culture. This represented a 100% pass rate in the pilot of year of DLS’s AP program.
