It’s location at E. 56th Ave and Central Park Blvd. has lots of cars going by each day, and it’s surrounded by newly developed Stapleton neighborhoods with lots of dog owners.

Sam Gary made a tremendous fortune in the oil and gas industry—and made a commitment to use his fortune to give back to the community. “Sam’s vision was to find the ways to make a big impact on the community—and he never really cared if he got the credit,” says Mike Johnston, a former state senator and Stapleton resident who was just recently named CEO of Gary’s charitable organizations, the Piton Foundation and Gary Community Investments (GCI).

Official Weather Station Moves Back to Stapleton

Stapleton will once again be home to an official weather observation station. When the Stapleton airport closed in 1995, the National Weather Service moved Denver’s official weather observation station to Denver International Airport (DIA) twenty miles east of the city.

Outcome of the Stapleton Name Vote
In the Stapleton vote, Question #1 asked if the name Stapleton should be removed. Stapleton property owners voted no. 3,590 ballots were cast. 2,282 (65.2%) voted to keep the name. 1,216 (34.8%) voted to remove the name.
